My notebook is in serious need of more RAM:

$ free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 493 487 6 0 55 26
-/+ buffers/cache: 460 33
Swap: 1961 727 1233

Yeah. That's right. 727 MB of cache used

Swap:         6149           0       6149

Why are we doing this?

I lied.. it's not my notebook. With that said many Dell and HP's are now available with 4GB. My personal notebook only has 1GB currently

4GB costs a LOT of money right now. If it goes down, I might get 4GB... with C2D or something like that.

I used to have a gig, but i cannabilzed a 256mb chip to give to my wife's lappy... hasn't made a huge difference in mine, but boosts her up to 512, which definitely helps things out.
