Anybody running wireless broadband on their 5672

Anyone using in particular Sprints Merlin S720 card with their 5672.

From my Googling, it looks like there are often incompatibilities between these cards and laptops...

I really don't need it, but I am so addicted to the Internet that I can't stand being a second without Internet access and I'm tired of trying to find hotspots or fiddle with my phone to use as a dial up modem.

I have Cingular and they use a Sierra card... I've had no problems at all. The speed isn't really "broadband".. it's 1.8mbpsish.. cable broadband i think run around 11mbps.

Overall, it works pretty well and I'm happy to pay the $60 per month unless i'm downloading big files or in areas where the highspeed coverage isn't available.

Phil.

Thanks Phil.

I'm on Sprint, so I went ahead and got their free card: A new RevA PX-500. The Sierra cards seem to have been recalled by Sprint (according to a Sprint store guy, so you never know what the real story is).

In any case, it was a bear to get it to work, but in the end, it works great.

I set up Windows Internet Sharing with an ad-hoc network, and I tested 2 other computers sharing the Internet connection. It worked, but for some reason the client PC's were only getting about 1/4 the speed of the host's (my Acer) speed.

That's probably just a quirky setting on Microsoft.

Once the RevA is turned on, this puppy should fly.

The speed is close right now to DSL. If you have 11MB cable, that's pretty darn fast. Most cable modems only do 3-5MB...
