iBook G4 bootup issues :'(

Ive had an iBook G4 for about a month. It was running farely decently for most of the time, every time I would run an OpenGL application the system would inevitably lock up, but I could live with that. More recently the machine has been locking up before the OS has a chance to fully load. If I'm lucky the machine will boot up and I can use it for about a minute before it locks up. I have tried reinstalling tiger but the machine wont load the install before it locks up. I have tried booting into open firmware and reseting the nvram, I have tried clearing the pram by pressing apple-option-p-r, I have tried resetting the pmu by pressing contol-shift-option-power, and no dice. I suspect hardware failure, funny thing is that AHT says that the hardware is good when I can get the AHT to boot. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have any suggestions?

Check Apple's website and see if it's eligible for a logic board replacement.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to check and see if the serial number matches when I get home... meanwhile I'm gonna continue to use my eMachines...

Although the problems described here (http://www.apple.com/support/ibook/faq/) do mirror the problems I am currently experiencing with my iBook G4, it turns out that my machine is not in the serial number range with the defective logic boards... Now I am almost 100% certain that the lockups are hardware related dispite what the AHT says! I guess its time to wait for my warranty to kick in, or get a refund for this refurbished machine...

If you bought it refurbished from Apple the warranty begins the minute you register it.

If its not covered give us a buzz.. RAM slots are turning out to be a big issue on these and we can repair. Good luck!
