Making this thread since I'm about to get a new laptop and thus will be doing a bit of old vs new benching. Old in this case is two Inspiron 8500s; the original one had a 1920x1200 display, this one (loaner) has a 1200x800.

Aquamark

System:
Dell Inspiron 8500 | 2.0GHz P IVM | 1Gb 266 SDRAM | Hitachi DK23FB-60 Gb 5400 disk, 8Mb cache | 1200x800 | ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, 32Mb, stock ATI/Dell drivers

(Note: Normally I would use the Omega drivers, but when putting my old disk in the loaner laptop, the only way I could get the machine to work outside of safe mode was to reinstall the Dell ATI drivers. Reinstalling Omega did not work.)

Right, this is not at all a gaming laptop. This is just for comparison. Also,i t was so GPU bound that the processorwas running at 1.623 GHzinstead of 2.0 GHz!

Yes, its a truly pathetic GPU score of 792. I figured this info might be useful for someone who comes across an old 8500 second hand.
