Lets find out where he lives and go beat the crap (or benchmarks) out of him ...
lol
I know where he lives...anyone wanna come? Im headed to sarasota right now with a baseball bat and a chockolate cake...what he gets depends on what he gives
post #24 of 56
I call shotgun!
lol thanks for the concern

I want to bench for many more hours with these bat files to see stability. I think I'm comfortable with 455/290 as a stable speed. This takes aquamark 3 up to over 29K and 3dmark03 to 3600. You can get more out of it, but stability can't be tested in just a few hours and a couple of programs.
go ahead and test away! I'm hoping you can OC the thing to the same speeds as the desktop 9600 XT!
3600 in 3Dmark03?? looks like this lappy is gonna kill the dells.
I'm a bit disappointed by the clock setting for the M11. My 8890 is OC'd to 480/284 for approx. 2 months non-stop, no artifacts, all games play well, and I get approx. 12,050 to 12,200 on 3DMark 2001SE and any where from 3,400 to 3,600 on 3DMark03. I have a 3.06 proc. with HT still working on 500 bus, as the lappy is a converted 8887.

I have an order in for the 8790 but wonder how much improvement will their be, and how far can I OC the GPU?
Yep -- the Omega drivers are great, and come with a utility to test to see if you've overclocked too far.

I used 'em to clock my 9600 to 324/425, and it's been working without a hitch.

Go-L sells a Performance Plus Booster that gives advanced timing options and
accelerated core/memory clock speeds, option for their 9700 256mb cards...

Not sure if thats 3rd party software or they developed it themselves.

One thing tho is the card can infact be OCd and optimized nicely..

Hopefully Adam will post how to do this with our Sagers..

Or refer us on how to get the Software.

If he cant hopefully someone else will share that info...
Geez.... If I hear another newbie mention Go-L, I'm going to scream.......
Infamous...the Go-L referance was just regarding the Performance Plus Booster they have for the ati 256mb card...but scream all you want doesnt make me lose any sleep

Is most of this thread not about OCing etc? does the Performance Plus Booster software etc do just that???

All im curious about is how to get something like that for the Sager man...Adam clearly stated Sager was very conservative on their Card clocking so software such as that or any other company might be quite helpful.

scream some more please
There are programs like Powerstrip, Rage3D Tweak etc. which are not coated with sugary language like the performance plus booster (which is probably the same software as the ones I mentioned).

The and we give to GO-L is because of their habit of using flowery language to describe ordinary things.

performance plus booster Like Alienware Adrenalin
post #34 of 56
Really........

Thats why I'm wanna scream.. GO-L says junk about "Performance boosters" and other flowery language when it's just the same stuff people are already using... Nothing new. Then I wanna scream cause people actually believe that Go-L has some new and exciting technology that no one else has.......... GO-L is a joke. I would scream... but Go-L isnt even worth a scream. Yes, they are that low.

The Omega drivers found at www.omegacorner.com have a built in OCer that many people with Sagers use to OC their video cards.
benchmark numbers Adam, we need oc benchmark numbers.
Can we out perform the XPS and not burn ourselves to death .
Go Sager
We should be getting a Dell 9100 in for review next week (it's internally identical to the XPS, just doesn't come with the video upgrade deal). I'll try to remember to report back on the OC'ing. Please, no-on take offence, but I find claims of 480MHz core clockspeeds for the 9600 mobility impossible to believe. A desktop 9600pro with a full-on fan would do well to match that. I also think that most people who make impressive claims about the clockspeeds they can obtain typically aren't playing shader intensive games. In my experience playing a shader intensive game significantly reduces the speed these mobile cores will run without artefacting or locking up. The reason, I understand, is that when running shader intensive 3d engines, more transistors are being used - the whole pipeline in effect - and therefore the whole core gets hotter and uses more power.

Patience everyone. UT2K4 comes out next week. That's when the benchmarks mean something. Believe me, I can't wait for those numbers.
Adam, your report will be plastered all over the game sites, you're going to be a star.
Not that I wanna put any pressure on you or anything. HardOCP might do a review, because they talked about the 8790 a month ago, but you'll be first.

This = me after reading this newb say that.

lol, you download "powerstrip" install it and turn the frequency up using the icon in your menu bar. There, I shared the secrete technique with you =). I'm still trying different settings. 455 or 460/290 seems to be stable and yield a decent gain in higher resolutions. Right now I'm pretty busy with a few other things I'm also working on like our store display here at The Computer Room. We have another LAN party tomorrow also prepping for and have to re-image.
