My wireless keep logging off on its own.

I dont know if logging off is the coreect way to put it but it started about a month ago. My wireless connection works then just stops and says unable to connect to prefered conection. I right click on the wireless icon in the task bar and click on repair and it'll disable wireless conector then reconnects to wireless connector and establishes a connection and will work fine for 10 mins or 30 mins or the rest of the night. Sometimes it wont have a problem then other times it will repeatedly fail every 5 mins. I dont know whats going on. It works fine at my school and other places with wireless connections and the wired desktop works flawlessly. Its just my wireless connection from my D-link 624 router. I dont know if what I wrote was clear or not but just ask if theres any questions you have for me.

Seeing as your laptop's wireless works fine on other networks, I'd have to say to start with your wireless at home. Your router might be dying slowly.

How far are you from the router? It sounds like a range or interference issue - if you are a reasonable distance from the router, try sitting next to it and spending a few days like that. Does this disconnection seem to happen when you get a phone call? Some phones interfere with wireless networks, and then you just change the phone's channel and it stops interfering.

Like WackyT pointed out, if it's not these other things then it is probably your router's fault. Look through all of the settings and make sure you don't have something weird turned on, and then if you try everything else and still can't get it to work, get a good wireless router.

I use the Netgear WPN824, and it is awesome. It has 7 directional antennas that dynamically turn on and off depending on signal strength in each direction. I have it upstairs in the corner of my house and I get medium-to-high signal in all areas of my house, with absolutely no disconnects. I haven't really tried it much outside, but I have been out in my driveway (in my car) using it and it works great too. Plus, it doesn't have any of the antennas sticking out so it's just a small rounded rectangle with flashing blue lights (it comes with a cover to snuff the light if you want to). Overall I love this router, and I have had bad experiences with other routers in the past. I had especially bad experience with Linksys's range in my house, but this Netgear blasts the signal to all areas. I highly recommend it.

From where I am I ussually its in the exceellent to very good range with 54mbps in the excellent range. Its just wierd that it started doing this with nothing in the house being changed. And the router is less then a yr old.

What changed a month ago? Think back... Did you notice any new wireless connections, which might show signs of neighbors getting new (interfering) routers? Did you change settings? Did you rearrange positions of anything, especially the router? It does seem odd that with very good to excellent connection you are getting these problems.

Also have you tried changing the router channel? That often helps with interference, and the common channels are 1, 6, and 11 (because frequency changes linearly from 1-11 so those 3 are the most spread out frequencies across the 2.4ghz range). Are there any wireless things very near your router that you can try moving away? Again, do you notice these disconnects being timed to something turning on/off around your house?

Otherwise, I would say try getting a new router. Go to a store, get a router, come home, try it out, and if it doesn't work out then return it to the store and you get your money back, no losses.
