Beware of pctorque - Page 3

Sometimes we all have bad hair days. I know I do.
How many company reps do you know that are prepared to eat humble pie?
Sorry to hear you caught Tom on a bad day, glad to see it was sorted out.
Go PC Torque.

Sorry to tell you this but.....
Depends. If it's a box stock model and it's in stock not long at all, a couple days tops. If it needs to be built it can take a while. My 5670 was in stock and ready to ship with my config. it went out the same day.

Speaks volumes that Tom came onto the forum and admitted having a bad moment ('course it says even more that everyone stood up for him). If Tom hadn't come on, I'm sure some of the more overzealous fanboys would have found their way here and flamed Jcwmson into the ground and the incident would have been ignored...and PCTorque might have suffered.
Quick response and rectification. That's good stuff.

You know what is even more shocking than all this, that we as consumers put up with such sub-standard customer service from other companies.

Maybe the thread should be renamed "Beware of PC Torque, once you have seen how good their customer service is you will never be pleased with anyone elses".

I think thats just Tom's phone voice. It put me off a bit too but I am a hyper-sensitive whining baby. ;-)

I dont think we should change the thread title...this makes people wanna see whats going on and it will show them how solid the PC Torque support is...not because they dont make mistakes - but because they go out of the way to fix them while many other resellers would go on teh defensive...

I emailed pctorque, requesting a quote for an "alternative" bare-bones configuration, and received a response from Tom. He was polite, courteous, and quickly responsive.

The quote wasn't what I was expecting (I found a better "bare-bones" price elsewhere). My only comlaint about pctorque is the online order form lacks "barebones" options.

Compared to most other Clevo resellers in addition to the other viable channels for purchasing a notebook, PC Torque allows for quite a bit of customization with respect to component and software/OS choices. There are other organizations that do offer true barebone mobile machines (have personally dealt with a few in regards to a number of barebone Acer and Uniwill units), but typically most are found lacking in the customer service arena or in their reliability.

It is a fairly difficult niche market to engage in. The customer base is fairly knowledgable in IT, and is most likely hoping to save money/resources (hardware) by purchasing a unit at the barebone level.

Regardless, good luck. Do hope you find what you are seeking.

Hi there!

While I am not sure about your system exactly, it normally takes just a few days. But, I did want to mention that if you used a debit card (and acutally, a credit card works about the same way, but not with "real" money), they will put a "hold" on it as soon as you place your order - which explains why your bank called you so fast (since we couldn't possibly charge you that fast even if we wanted to! ). This does not mean that you card has been charged, it just means that an authorization was made for that amount. Hypothetically, if your system shipped 12 days from order, the money may actually appear again in your account on the 10th or 11th day because the hold is released. This is because the card was never charged. But since you are using a debit card with actual money attached to it, they must take the funds the moment you order to make sure you have them.

In short, PC Torque only charges orders once they ship and never sooner.
