Try calling your credit card and see if they have received it from dell. Your bank has 30 days to post.

In absolutely no way am I say your bank is the mix up, but they can put some heat on dell!!

We're dealing with real professionals here. It is a lot funnier, and I can laugh about it now that my system is gone. I finally got my response back today from the e-mail I sent on 3/13/04. That was from the 4 hour response site, I told them they should change the site to 5 days since that is what it took to respond. The resolution manager, no less, started by addressing me by my last name, which I told them I felt like I was in High School again, and to please address me by my first name. They proceeded to tell me they scheduled another time to pick up tomorrow and to make certain I am home this time. It then stated the following on the letter, form your own opinion, this is copied from the e-mail. Keep in mind, this is a resolution manager.
......................................... I have also log you complaint
I will bring this to management attention, so that we can make
sure our Customer service , Sales, and technical Support representatives
are providing our customer with the best service as possible
I apologize again for any inconvenience. Have a great day.

Just thought I would bring a little humor to the thread

And before anyone starts, the best I could tell it was definately and Americanized name on the bottom, but I won't mention the name because they are already have enough difficulties.

Well guys, to put an end to the saga, dell credited back the money to my card last night. I don't know if was from pushing the issue, from them not wanting to deal with the "refusal of payment", or just having a speeding credit department. I will leave thinking it is the latter of the three.

They just received my computer on Tuesday, and credited my card with the entire amount on Friday. That is extremely fast, and I will give credit where credit is due.

Just wanted to update you with information on this thread one last time, and to let you know they had no disputes or delays on the credit part.

The End

Just got back today from the weekend. My Credit card balance now shows a negative $3000 balance. It appears from the statement that they credited the refund twice now. I think I'll just keep my mouth shut and see how long it takes for them too figure this one out.

It's a better return than I saw on my stock portfolio this year And probably less of a gamble wondering if you'll get to keep it

Hey LurkingJayhawk!

Glad to read this was resolved...Maybe the $3000 is a pain and suffering re-imbursement! You definitely went through hell!

Good luck.

I Really Dont Know What To Do Now !!!!

I currently own an Inspiron 5150, 3.06gHz, 64mb ATI Radeon, 512mb RAM, 40GB HD...
I bought this one in the US and had problems with it since then ( blue screens and stuff like that ) after a few months it started overheating and shutting down every time I tried to watch a movie, play games etc. My friend told me that it might be a Trojan Virus that making the laptop crazy ( the CPU use to work on %100 almost all the time ) and since I had a viruses problem I thought that was it so I bought an external HD, backed up my files and installed windows XP Pro all over again....
A week or so after that it happend again and since I had a problem with that new virus ( susser32 or something like that ) I thought that was it so I removed it but the system just didn't work properly !!! To make it short, I left the US and I'm now in the UK and I still have a warranty so I contacted Dell.co.uk for help, they told me that I will have to transfer the warranty, and then they told me that I can't do it because I had a 1 year limited warranty and that I will have to buy a new one here !!!! NOW, I asked how much it is going to cost me....guess what ?! they told me that I can't buy one now because my laptop doesn't work properly and that I will have to fix it first, also, they said that they think that the problem is a f**ked up motherboard and fan and that it will cost me 500 pound plus shipping and VAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hung up the phone and got a US supervisor on an online chat, he was very helpfull and my warranty was transfered to the UK in less than an hour !!! The worst thing was is the fact that the day I got the laptop ( which was my first laptop ever ) I called Dell to ask them if I can leave it on all the time ( with the battery in ) on AC Power and they told me that I can do it and that I don't have to worry...now they are blaiming me for it !!!!
Anyway, I'm thinking of selling it and getting a new one, I though of buying an Alienware Area 51m but then I read here that they are having a LOT of problems with it and that it takes a long time fixing it !!!!
If you guys have an idea of what I should do I will be more that happy to hear !!!
My experience with Dell wasn't so good, I have my laptop for less then 9 months and I already installed windows like 7 times and had a lot of problems with it...If I'm using the burner I can't do ANYTHING else untill it's done, if I'm watching a movie it's like I'm broadcasting it over the internet and it's very slow !!!! and if I'm playing games - It's overheating and shuts down !!!
HELP PLEASE !!!!!
Thanks !!!!

Rotem,

I don't know if you've looked at it, but on Dell's own forum there was (may still be) a sticky about heating problems with 5100 and 5150 machines. Turns out some of those systems were prone to dust buildup on the heat sinks. A partial solution was to get some compressed air and blow it through the back vents of the system every so often. Hope this helps.
