NVidia 8800 released! - Page 2

the card is only worth it for AA lovers, but what impressed me whas the sli performance its allmost 2x something odd, becuase normally there is only a small performance increase.

Just taking a stab, but it could be DX10 is optimized more for dual GPU enviornments or drivers/software are.

I doubt when DX8/9 plans were originally laid down they planned for SLI.

a sli 8800gtx laptop would really perform like hell, with a 7600g c2c from the new generation 800mhz, but then again, they better wait for alcoholic batteries, becuse even on lowpower mode that systems would die in no time lol

I wonder how well the 8x series from Nvidia will scale "down" in terms of processing elements?

The current 128 element 8800gtx is twice as fast as current 79xx parts and SLI configurations. It is 5-10x faster than the more common laptop gpu's like the x1600, go7400, etc. Would they be able to scale the processing elements down to say 64 or 48 and still maintain performance to scale?

The issue for DX10 will be how quickly do DX10 compatible parts circulate into every niche. That means DX10 versions at every price and performance point. I would think it would be an easy move to release a "go8700" and "go8400" that still offers performance levels well beyond the current generation of "lowend" discrete GPUs.

I just can't wait for dx10 GPU laptops.
