Is my LCD dying out?

Eh, about a few weeks ago my LCD on my notebook started developing pink and yellow vertical lines. Now I'm wondering if I should call Dell or if there's something I could do to fix it. Have any of you guys had this problem? And if so, what did you do?

Video card could be kicking the bucket. When does it happen? Under normal usage (e.g.- browsing teh intarweb, using Word, etc.?) or under heavy gaming?

Could be overheating the GPU and causing artifacting. I've got a 9300 and haven't had any issues like that; that being said, I've also got an integrated video card, so if that happened to me, I'd assume it was the screen. As it is, my Sager 8790 had GPU problems and caused serious artifacting.

Definitely contact Dell if you're under warranty. Get that taken care of before it gets worse. And the sooner you get it taken care of, the sooner you get your machine back.

I would vote video card over LCD, but you should check both. I had similar when my old GeForce 440 Go was about to kick the bucket.

Test on an external monitor if you can. Run the diagnostics and chat with Dell. Also, when you talk to support ask them if reseating the connector might help. Perhaps your cable is a bit loose.

There is a developing history of 9x00 LCDs going down the shitter, typically between 14 and 18 months of purchase! (Ironically and coincidently just after the one year warranty. )
When you call Dell to yell at them, do NOT accept it when they tell you they have never heard of this problem before. They always say that, and they're probably told to say it.
They did the same damn thing when I called regarding my niece's 5100 overheating, and that was already a well known issue. Now they have a huge nation wide class action suit against them regarding that model's poor cooling engineering.

Right now I'm typing on my 9200, which had a Samsung WUXGA screen. about 13 months in, the bottom third of the screen started flickering with any vibration or tilting adjustment and it progressed to where eventually I got nothing but vertical lines on the bottom. (Top 2/3rds are fine.)
My laptop is apart and I have a beautiful Sharp replacemen t WUXGA with no dead pixels, but I have to initially plug in the Samsung upon coldboot for the laptop to recognize the screen. Then I have to switch the connector to the new Sharp screen!

I'm waiting for a tech from the place where I got the screen to call me.
I will post any new info that might be useful to people here.

Yeah, I haven't been gaming much on my notebook. Just been using it casually.

So how would I go about reseating the connector? Because I really don't have the extra money to send it back to Dell.
