MAxed out it's less then a Grand or at least less then 1,100 that's pretty funny. I didn't think Dell Laptops could do that w/o coupons.

hmm wat does that tell you about the laptop then?

I'm not too impressed with Mobile AMD cpus yet, their battery life is terrible compared to Mobile Intel cpus.

Anyone have an Inspiron 1501 with AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-56 processor in real world use just browsing the web and playing music?

I'm using one right now. Not the best notebook for music as the on board speakers are average (then again it is a notebook), so use headphones or external speakers, but the performance is quite good. The 1800MHz drops in steps down to 700MHz under light loads. Biggest problem is the current lack of support for the chipset on linux, although Mandriva 2007 installs with some tweaking.

Read in this review: http://www.notebookcheck.com/Test-De...ok.2440.0.html that it can do up to 6,5 hours with light dimmed and on idle with 9-cell-battery. It means that you can get up to 6 hours with light dimmed and light usage, quite impressive!

Id say than you would be getting roughly 4 hours of real world usage since many users prefer brighter lcd options.

It's good to see Dell turning to the dark side of the force.

I think with max light that regular tasks like surfing the net, writing documents you easily can get around 5 hours, with light at minimum, up to 6 hours with light tasks should be no problem. I`m basing this on the fact that it can do 4 hours 10 mins with max brightness while playing DVD (which is quite intensive, my i9400 looses atleast 30 minutes of batterylife while playing movies from dvds compared to movies stored on the disk).
