Karoic,

He just sent it back this week. Give them a few days to get it in their shop.

I must add an update to my previous position with my Alienware experience. Since joining this board, I was contacted by an AW employee who was able to assist me in creating an account with them to allow me to access their support forums and downloads. I must say that this has changed my impression of their customer service rather dramatically. Thanks, AW, for changing my experience for the better!

The good examples and experiences keep piling in. Good to hear that!

My machine is still humming along. I highly recommend the hardware. Havn't had to com. fab. with the lackeys in Alienwares sales or customer service branch, and for that I consider myself very fortunate. As of yet, I have not experienced any decent customer service from anybody at that company. It was all bad, hope its over. lol.

Oh, I forgot! My XP cd key was no good. The one on the sticker on the bottom was unacceptable by Microsoft. I don't know if that's hardware or customer service, lol.
I had to be issued another one from Microsoft, and then it was all good. No help from the mothership, though!

Mine has been awesome. Everyone has been stopping by the desk to checkout my new laptop

I can't speak on the hardware yet (Phase 2, Phase 3 by tomorrow), but the customer service has been great. Great reponse time, rapid call backs (4 minutes) & an eager to help attitude. I know I'm early in the process & there have a mix of experiences but I am quite impressed so far. More to follow...

FYI, I've had mine back twice now. Same problem, Alienware same no fix solution. If it's not a simple fix (software setting), don't expect them to fix it.

Lots of money spent on a blue brick.

Since i got my laptop in the early part of March, I have had the pcm card door pop out of position and I have just discovered a crack just below my screen to the left of the right speaker extending from hinge to screen. Otherwise, I am glad I bought it, gameplay and internet use is flawless as is using programs like Adobe CS or Jasc PSP 8.10. Built in speakers were tinny and unusable, but plugging headphone jack into a set of Altec Lansing multimedia speakers made all the difference. My laptop sounds better than my desktop, which is no slouch with its Audigy sound card and 3 pc. Yamaha speaker setup. Unfortunatly, I will have to send it back for the crack and I don't look forward to dealing with the lousy customer service. lol.

Repair, don't hold your breath. Make sure the label says 2day. They like to send it ground. Then they take 3-4weeks when they get it to send it back. If you get it in less time, they probalby didn't repair it. Mine was just sent back for the third time. Takes them about 2 wks to reimage the drive/do stupid simple fixes - which was not the fix for my problem, as I had tried them all, already.

Sorry to hear about your problem, I wouldn't wish an Alienware on my worse enemy. Well, maybe Osama.

I had a Dell I8500 before my little bundle of alien. The difference in build quality is surprising, but I guess thats how Dell get to sell cheaper. Couldn't be happier with the machine, haven't had the need to exercise any service.

I love my area 51m (766) it my not be the most mobile laptop ever but it is just as fast as my AMD 64fx with 2 gigs of ram. Ok maybe not as fast but pretty close. I use it for everything from VB.net to Photoshop it can handle whatever I give it to do. I use it with my TV and on the road sometimes. When ever I use it in public I get all kinds of people asking me how fast is how much did I get it for followed by “where can I get one”. I mean it is a great desktop replacement. I use the IR port to transfer pics and phone numbers from my Sony cell phone. AW thought of everything when they made this thing. My only advice for someone wonting to buy one is to get a second battery because the area 51m needs juice like my SVT Cobra needs gas. And that is how you should look at these laptops because Mustangs are a dime a dozen but Cobras are few and far in-between. Just like AW area 51m is power in the hands of few.

Roger that Jeff91741,
I thought I had it good with a 36" Toshiba Tv to play on. You in the market for a recliner with built-in cooler? lol.

Well, I have not got my system as of yet, but I will review the customer service. Before ordering my system, I read countless reviews that said Alienware Customer Service was terrible, and that it was better to get an IBM. I took it into consideration, but ordered my laptop anyway. Since then, I have only had to contact Alienware in order to cofirm my order and double check the credit situation, and that one experience was incredible. I was a bit unsure when I heard a foreigner on the other end, but I could tell instantly that he knew what he was talking about. While checking my specs, he commented that this system was def made for gaming and that it was going to be great. The guy even took the time to learn how to pronounce my name (I've been called several billion names ranging from Charlie to Sean...). All in all, it was a great call, and I'm very sure that I won't have any problems with them.

Lolz! Well I'm still on phase 3, but I'll ship out my benchies whenever the darn thing gets here. Estimate of shipping when I ordered it was June 8th, but it may change based on the 9700's delay.

After all this is said and done, if anybody actually gets some strange (if you know what I mean, and I know that you do.) because of their ownership of this laptop, please, we need details.

I haven't had any problems with my Lappy except for the DVD drive. It looks up the system when I insert a new CD. Besides that it's been worth the price and I haven't had to run the Restore CD yet (Except for the initial restore to improve performance). The only thing I should have done was to get the 60 gb drive instead

Had never seen that picture... but I love it. My experience with steam has sucked,

Worst app ever.
