While the screen is awesome, and the performance is more than acceptable for our son's games, the fragility of the package combined with the fact that it locks down erratically, an apparent video card problem that nobody's been able to diagnose, have soured me permanently on them. When it's time to replace this one, our lad will get a Falcon Northwest Frag Box or a Voodoo Envy.
Sorry, AW, but I won't be on the list for your IPO, either.

And what the hell are Alienware trying to do by selling freeware that's been rebranded under their own name - "Alienware Performance Optmiser" is infact a freeware app for overclocking if you didn't kno.
They are heavily over priced by nearly double in some cases, i must admit. The only really good thing about them is the paintjob and little alien eyes. . They look l337, but everything else is quite poor. The workman ship is nearly as bad as dell, the performance is not much better, and they are very heavy and have low battery life. I was truly dissapointed.
Can't wait to get my hands on an Acer or Toshiba laptop. Much cheaper, better, and + there s room to mod and upgrade.
Alienware seem to use someone else's internals for their notebooks, and make it look all flash with their cases. Moreover, "exclusive" ALienware technologies are not really exclusive. For example Raid in laptops is not a new thing, having 2 Grafix cards will be available to all mobo manufacturers, etc. I don't know why u ppl fall for this stuff. You should go spend your money with a lot more thought first.
Their Desktops are even worse!!! They have litterally ordered parts in bulk and sell really expensive for huge margins. If i put together my own desktop wtih the exact same specs and infact a much nicer more expensive case and PSU, i could get it at least 500quid (about 920 bucks) cheaper still. I just hope AW really wake up and drop their prices and just be a bit more competitive.
