What would be a GOOD TV tuner??? I am thinking USB 2.0 version just for the simplicity of it...

are you talking about a tuner for a desktop, or a laptop? laptop usb i have used was the ati tv wonder, worked ok, but it wasnt designed for Media center. i also used the avertech pcmcia card, it was good.

desktop actually...so the ATI wont work well?

Also, how does the sound work?? Is it through the computer speakers automatically? or does it require more plugs?
for me the ati did not work well. it wasnt compatible with media center edition. i did some looking around at the time, if you run xp pro or home you should be fine. for a desktop though, i think your choice selection would be greater if you just went with an installed card not usb.

sound will come through whichever interface you choose, the usb or direct plug in card. i use an angel tv tuner with my current laptop, and the sound and video are supplied with composite cables (red, yellow, white) they plug right into the tuner and the computer handles the rest! no plug ins required that i'm aware of. unless you start going into 5.1 and such. even then, i think the hardware should handle most of it.

Ok i may run to compusa to pick one up...they have a rather expensive ATI version that does everything, but I think its worth it. It records, etc

cool! just make sure that it comes with a remote control for the tuner! i made that mistake once. also, if you can find one that has a dual tuner, you'll be able to watch one thing, while you record another. or you could record two different things at once!

Ok...got the ATI HD Theatere 650...top of the ATI line, and love it!! Free remote too. That's worth 40 bucks...cant complain. So it was 129- 10 instant rebate so 119, 10 dollar mail in, down to 109, then 40 dollar remote for free. not BAD!! Picture is clear. It took a couple minutes to figure out why it wasnt picking up channels. Its VERY important to UPDATE the VIDEO drivers first, THEN add the software. I think it helped that I was an ATI video card to begin with...then it worked perfect. love it

I have and love it. It even runs on xp pro without a problem. So far so good. The Picture quality is out of this world if you get a good recpt.

Thanks. I'm seriously considering picking one up while it's on sale.

I'm definetly loving this "thruview" option where it is a somewhat transparent view of the TV...its awesome. I can type this and still watch UFC finals!

Pick it up you won't regret it. I compared the picture quality to my Olivia 37" LCD HDTV and it looks the same to almost better. The only thing I don't like is the retractable antenna. I rather have the stiff little antenna. But all in all it is well worth its price. Let me know when you get it.
