GATEWAY MX6708

Specs:
15.4" Glossy Widescreen
Core Duo T2300
x1400 256mb (that includes the hypermemory)
1GB PC4200 RAM
80GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
Quick Overview:
First thing i liked about my new laptop was the appearance. The style of the cover and the touchpad didn't hurt my finger like my old dell and my older ibm did. As a note to people who decide to get a glossy screen it makes movies and games look a lot clearer but you can't see ANYTHING if theres a glare on the screen, i.e. you can't take this thing outside on a sunny day. There is a built in microphone and speakers in this model which as far as im concerned run great (ive only compared it to my friends Toshiba and my sound quality is a bit louder/better). There are two parts of the computer that light up neon blue when you turn it on. 1) The circumference of the Power Button on the top right. 2) The front of the computer in between the speakers. These front lights change from blue to pink to red (based on battery level) which i liked as a unique feature. Unfortunentely the speakers are located inconvenientely at your legs when the laptop is on your lap which tends to muffle sound. Other then that it seems to be a well built laptop, which i have yet to encounter stability and/or hardware problems with. The site has been easy to download drivers from and updating my bios for the first time went smoothly because it was so well explained in the written instruction.
Pros: Well built, Some good/cool features, Good customer service, Did well as far as x1400's are concerned.
Cons: Speakers in a bad place, glossy screen hard to see in sunlight.
How it runs HL2 (on high settings, low shadows, no AA, 4x AF):
39.8 FPS Average
Results:
Notes:
Catalyst - 6.9
Omega Drivers (for catalyst 6.9) - 6.08 (also installed ATT)
Microsoft Framework 3.0 and Direct xSDK installed.
Currently running at stock speeds.
