Few Questions on Asus A8Js

Hi,

I just got a quick question before I order a new laptop. This will be the first time I get an Asus laptop, I had Dell's and Apple's before this so I'm not sure about certain parts. I'm somewhat sure that if I do decide to upgrade any parts like the hard drive I void Asus's own warranty but then I would get warranty from whoever I bought. But what about wireless and cd-drive? I want to use an Atheros wifi card and I have a spare slot load dvd drive. Would those work on the Asus A8Js? Thanks.

Make sure your wireless card has a mini PCI express interface, NOT a mini PCI interface. If it's mini PCI express, it should work fine.

I'm not sure about the optical drive. You'd have to check compatibility

I think there are at least two sizes of optical drives. One is thinner than the other. You'd have to check on that.... If you put in a new HD, make sure you keep the old one so you can swap it back in, when you need to access the warranty. Be careful and don't break any warranty seals while doing so. Do this and you should be fine... Be sure to keep ALL of the original Asus parts.
