Why no Mobility x1900xt's?

Thread Starter
I was looking around at sites like Voodoo PC, Falcon-NW, and Velocity Micro and noticed they don't carry mobility 1900's. Then I went to their official site and noticed they don't even make them, the highest they have is the mobility 1800. Why are geforce go 7950 gtx's made but not it's direct competition?

Who knows? Maybe it's just to personally piss you off?

I kinda suspected that...this world is always trying to piss me off.

one reason and one reason only, ATI doesnt take a big stand in mobility really, like at all, thats why Nvidia always has a wtfpwn mobile card, x1800 is the best youll get

once ATI takes a stand they will prolly do what AMD did with Turion vs P-M, r0x0rz its b0x0rz

Well, FS has come with new model Xi 1554: http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/home/...o_xi_1554.html
, which will have according to specs Mobility Radeon X1900 so maybe ATI is introducing them soon...

I hear AMD is trying out GPU cores integated into their processors using ATI's technology....there may be some real interesting mobile technology from AMD...

OMGOMGOMG mobility x1900 , wowwow nice.

that would be very interesting if they did this and it worked, however how large the proc would be, unless they can get lower than 65nm and get the gpu smaller than that, man thatd be amazing

it's the alienware 5750 model....I wonder if the current x1800 can be "upgraded"

that would be nice =D
i was waiting for the x1900 for awhile until i dropped it and got 7900gs. i prefer the x19xxseries over 79xxseries.

but atis a bit late and they are pretty screwed now since nvidia got their dx10 out. im sorry i meant THE NEW AMD!!!! lol

thats prolly a possibility, however if there isnt a great diffrence in preformence which im guessing would be around 10-13% in fps/quality, i highly doubt they would, theyd prolly wait for.....umm whats the new core? R650? then make one based on that and go from there

Well, from what I've heard, integrating the GPU right on the processor die would cut the transistor "budget" by a third for the GPU part. The lowered latencies would also allow for more performance for less transistors.

I get the impression this is not going to be high-end GPUs though, some of them have higher transistor counts than dual-core CPUs. If anything, it'll probably start off with the low end and may move into the mid-range. It certainly will be interesting to watch.

Wow...I wonder how loud or hot that thing gets....I don't think I'll even ask about the battery life....
well it's not an "XT" model so I doubt that it will have anything more than 15% performance increase over the x1800.

hopefully it will have more pipelines and avivo added on
post #16 of 25
id say more like 20-25%. they wouldnt release it if it didnt beat the 7900gtx.
yes they would release it to try to maintain at least some footing in the serious side of notebook graphics. without a high end card ati might as well concede the enthusiast notebook market to nvidia right now.

x1900 will not be faster or "better" than the current 7900/7950 gtx go

it maybe on par/slightly better than the 7900 gs go

And how would you know that? It's rumoured to have 36-48 pixel pipelines to beat Go 7950GTX.
well considering this is a mobile version I highly doubt it will have anything close to 36-48 PP...specially since it would totally kill the battery life and frankly wouldn't fit in a laptop.

the one of the fujitsu sight clearly says x1900, just like the current model only has the x1800 not the x1800xt...

and since we can see that there was no change in the chasis, it is safe to say that there is no additional room for a larger cooling solution...

so I'll stick to my original assumption that it will be only around a 15% increase in performance (non overclocked of course).

I will say high 6K to mid 7K in 3dmark05...since I was able to hit close to 6700 in 3dmark05 w/ a x1800go
