7 month old 9750 dead?

Just yesterday I was playing a game on my laptop, when the screen suddenly went black. the backlight was still on and the computer wa still running, though it would not respond to any keyboard commands. After leaving it sit for 30 minutes or so, I was forced to do a hard reset.

Upon rebooting, i started getting a whole slew of different errors. At first it would ask me if i wanted safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration, or boot normally, every option inevitably lead to the same outcome, a blue screen saying that there was an error with the registry.

So i try to stick in the recovery CD, but it will not load it, it goes down the same path everytime. At this point i hit F2 to go to setup, and changed the boot order so that it would boot the cd first. This gave me a different outcome, but not one that was ultimately helpful in any way. I had the option for an Automated System Recovery (ASR), but it prompts me for a floppydisc i do not have. The does not seem to be an option to reformat.

Help?

grab your winblows cd and do a repair install? so boot from cd, press enter to install windows, f8 to agree to the bullshit, point it to the drive with the OS already on it and it should ask if you wish to repair the install.

if the registry hive gets corrupted it will do what your describing. you can try going to a command prompt and doing a complete chkdsk to repair errors and bad sectors, but it may not solve anything.
