they never said the battery tested was a faulty or recalled battery. they intentionally set it off by pushing the battery to its limits. they do mention that faulty protection circuits can cause this to happen as well as excessive exposure to heat or applied blunt force to the battery. from what i understand, this can happen to anyone.
