Your desktop is quite a bit newer than mine Shazza, so I think you should be fine for a bit longer than me... Then again this m9700 is doing everything I need quite nicely...

Oh what to do, what to do...

When is Crysis supposed to be released?

Crysis Release Date:
(US) March 30, 2007
(UK) March 30, 2007
(AU) April, 2007

Hell, i wonder if i can play that at 1600 reso with my 256mb sli.
I absolutely LOVE my m9700, although there r a few sound glitches that i havent bothered fixing by re-installing the drivers. It def. beats everyone else in the looks dept. especially when im in the lounge with my m9700 attracting so many stares.

PS : alienware forgot to ship me my black free t-shirt and the home xp cd .. and they forgot the cd the 2nd time around LOL. I love imperfections in anything .

personally i dont have 4Gs to buy a decent alienware

You don't need 4 Gs to get a "decent" Alienware. My Area-51 7500 was less than 3K and it kicks every games azz so far. Will upgrade to Vista and DX10 next year. But until then, I'm very happy with mine.

That's a very subjective question. Will it run well with Vista? Probably, yes. Will it fully support DX10 and all it's nifty features? Of course not, the desktop cards for DX10 just released within the last week. Notebook cards to follow sometime...soon?

I debated this issue for a month or more researching. I came to the conclusion that for my purposes the 9700 will do everything I want it to do, so I bought one. If I wanted extreme power/gaming/graphics beyond this, I believe I will have to get a desktop, which I'm thinking of building over the next 6 months just for fun. Or maybe wait until the software and hardware catch up with one another and then buy another AW, only this time a desktop monster!

IMHO from what I've read and researched, the M9700 is about as good as it gets for mobile gaming. I guess you could pack a desktop processor and more sh!t into a laptop and it may squeeze out more perfomance, but it would weigh 15 pounds, and that's no longer a laptop to me.
