I've also done something else to backlight my badge. I cut away the aluminum and I'm currently using the backlight of the LCD. It looks wonderful in the dark because the light is even and consistant throughout the whole badge. I'll post pics.
for anyone thinking of doing this I dremelled the entire circle with about a cm smaller in diameter than my badge. Then I hot glued the badge on (hot glue works AMAZINGLY well i was so surprised and glad i didn't ahve to epoxy) and then I hot glued a cut piece of a cd jewel case so taht incase i dropped a liquid on the lid it wont damage the lcd behind. I'll post pics after my exam tomorrow.
