Hi, this is my first post in this forum! but im not new! ive been looking this forum since last year. im from argentina but im going to be traveling to the us in a few weeks. and the idea is to buy the DV9000, i dont care if its conroe of turion, the CPU is the same to me, the specs would be 100G HD, 1024Ram, and!... the 7600 256MB GPU. here comes the issue, i cant find any real dealer ( i mean real dealer as a place to go and buy it ), like best buy, or compusa, a place where u can go see it and buy it your self, not thru internet, all this places, have this laptop! but with the 6150 Shared video card, and i dont want that GPU because the laptop is not going to be a desktop replacement! but! i still want to play with it!. so i would like to ask u guys if u know any real dealer in the area of New york city that has this laptop with the 7600 GPU. the problem is! i dont think i can buy it thru internet because im satying at a hotel! and i dont think its safe to buy it and send it to the hotel.
*another question i have, is... a friend of mine told me that if i buy it after christmas or new year, its going to be cheaper,... if yes... how much cheaper? is it a big difference?
*i would like to ask if u guys had find any cons to this notebook. i saw a lot of reviews and i really like it.
*i also would like to ask if any of u saw the interior of the laptop... if its possible to change HD in the future? and also de cpu... and if u have to take off the keypad or what! or u can change the cpu from below.
* and the last thing! i would like to ask some high quality pics ( 1280*1024 ) of the front. back, sides and the bottom!
thats it for now! ill be asking some other questions but thats about it!
oh... anyone realised why HP 17in notebooks are so cheap? why is hp the only brand that is so cheap... al other laptops with 17inch display and geforce 7400/7600 and better are like 2.000 dollars. why the hp is 1300/1400?

The Manhattan area Compusa has them on display. I've seen them last week. Cannot garuntee that they will have them on display when you show up.

Best Buy has them on display too.

Good, its a 17", and the case looks prettier than the old 8000 series laptop.
Bad, its so glossy it attracts your fingerprints.

By the way, dell's 17" inspiron 1705 is another cheap 17" laptop, but it doesn't have a numeric keypad, but it has a better gpu.
And most retail stores don't have many laptops or desktops with gpu's because the majority of consumers do not need a gpu.
Good luck with your hunt, and I do suggest go into a retail store to feel it first, that way you know what you're getting.

.

Sams Club ( a divison of Walmart has them also) you can get a "temp" pass to get in the door... Don't know how a membership would work though.. (maybe a friend could buy it in their name?)
