Your portable Mp3 player, Your recommendation and Your opinion.

Thread Starter
I recently just purchased the Creative Zen Vision:M with 30gb's and video support. A buddy of mine has the Zen:Microphoto which I thought was so cool. I liked the extra volume to it compared to the Nano which another buddy of mine has. I like the microphoto's features and touchpad too, but I wanted more gb's and if possible video support. I liked the Ipod which another buddy has and I got to experiment with it but I didn't like it's wide ranging incompatability with Windows or even Linux. The Vision:M, as Im sure you know, won the 2006 CES best in show for Mp3... so Creative is no small player in the Mp3 market.. they're probably Apple's number one rival, no?

I also purchased the full-body http://www.shieldzone.com/item_descr...ENVISMFUL.html Invisihield which seems to really pass the scratch test as evidenced by their videos. And now I can't decide which belt clip from which manufacturer to get for workouts; I don't like armbands.

So which do you have(Ipod? Zen? or other? and which model?) Which would be your choice if you could buy again or when you're planning to purchase again? What accessories do you find useful for whatever activities you do? And what scratch resistant product do you use?

Peace

I have a decently old Zen Creative 20gb, not video or anything special, Only have 5gb filled, excellent battery life for being more then 1 1/2 old I think,

I got Zen just because of my strong dislike for anything apple, My friends all have Ipods last about 6months-to a year.

It turned out to be better then I thought, no color screen, BUt i dont change the song anyways on my playlist for long bike rides, so I hardly look at it.

It survived many crashes.....

but Im not up to date on Creative new models....But I dont like apple thats my opinion

Bought a cheap ($32) 256 MB RCA on Woot!. Added 1 GB SD card. It's about the size of 2 BIC lighters, has voice recording, FM radio and line in which records to 128 Kb MP3. Woot! It's all I need.

I bought the Zune the day it came out (and made a thread about it), but still haven't took it out of the box. I think I'm going to today though. I've looked on forums and asked at stores and it seems to be pretty solid and no returns for defects.
The screen size blows the video ipod out of the water too. I have no idea how the ipod is only 1/2" smaller than the Zune. It looks about half the size when you put them next to eachother

My gal bought me a 30gig Ipod and love it

I think I'm gonna take the Zune back, hopefully it has a 30 day return policy on it. I like it and all, but it doesn't seem like it's going to catch on..
someone needs to make one like it (especially the ginormous screen), but make it more sexy looking

If you're intent on having the same thing everyone else has, go for an iPod and enjoy your trendy mediocrity.

I'll recommend the Sansa e260. I have both a Creative Zen Vision:M and the e260. The Sansa e260 works easily with Linux, which is why I recomend it over the Zen. It's also smaller of course and is flash based... if that's important to you (less fragile).

Fry's had the e260 for sale for $99 the other day... I wish I had picked it up. My wife uses the e260 currently... and my daughter has the Zen... so I wouldn't mind having an MP3 player again... someday...

I can see how not having a Zune-specific music store would make all the difference in the world...

When the only interest you have in a music player is a subscription to a monthly service, then yes, that does make all the difference in the world..

I use my Dell Axim X51v for my MP3's. I hate having one gadget that does only one thing. So I have one gadget that I can use for pictures, songs, movies, appointments, contacts, etc.
