its a quality laptop really nice screen overclockable and from what i can tell you can upgrade the graphics card??..

OMG!!! thanks! I have been waiting for user pics for several months LOL! Thank you.

Unfortunately i don't think the V1J has the ability to upgrade the graphic card because there is not platform in which it can do it, plus no other ASUS laptop claims it can. lol, ohwell, we'll have to wait for technological advances.

Do you mind telling us how much battery life you get, and what settings you use?
The viewing angles, how bright the screen is, any light leakage?
Heat and noise? How hot is it, does it make any noise, depending on what your using it for?
How nice is the keyboard and touchpad?
What about the latch system, is there a latch? or is is a magnet?

Thanks for sharing!

i will get back to you on the battery life as i have just sent my battery off as i was an unlucky one to get a faulty battery
The viewing angles are pretty good compared to my previous 3 laptops and most i have ever seen.
The screen is top 1680x1050 glossy very bright with no leakage at all
it is relativly quiet but it can get hot when using high graphics games as i have overclocked the ati x1600 which gives a hell of a kick and it gets hot air coming out. But you cant really feel it on your lap as the heat does not travel trough the laptop very much just straight out the side like it should do. also another good thing is the intake and out for the cpu are in the same place on the side so it doesnt matter if you have the laptop on your bed while playing games as you cant block the air vent easily.
The keyboard is very nice very firm but just the right amount of click so you know you have pressed the key. The touchpad is nice but the two buttons are very stiff when it is new and it was anoying for a few weeks. Also the fancy fingerprint reader inbetween the buttons is usefull for passwords. Also the fingerprint reader can be used to scroll.!!
There are two latches which holds the screen down firmly but what is nice to release them both ther is just one button hidden at the front which you push in and they both release.
any other questions ill be happy to awnser awsome lappy

Woah thanks for the answers! And that fingerprint reader being a scroller! nice!, i thot that it would become a nuissance but, hey i would love to have a dedicated place for scrolling.

If I can come up with more questions, i'll let you know, thanks!.

Thanks,

Where did you get it? Could you customize it? How much? Can you choose a 1280x800 screen instead? This is definitely the most appealing 15.4 inch gaming asus I have seen

edit: $2k? **** that

The V1J is now available for pre-order for North Americans. The V1J is available in most Eurpean countries.

Yes it is roughly 2k.

I just google around and found this website from cnet.asia. It's said webcam is swivel. BTY, it has 1 year warranty, if it's snap off ya'll get a new one :-))

"....The laptop is mostly finished in black, with silver trim running around its edge. Opening the screen is straightforward enough--the V1J uses a push-button latch-release, which is easier to operate than some sliding latches. At the top of the screen there's a 1.3-megapixel webcam, which in this case swivels 180 degrees so you can record yourself or others in a meeting or lecture..... "

Unfortunately no. There's generally a few months between when Asus announces a new model and when the model is available for purchase. You'll have to wait until April or May, most likely.

Nice pix thanx!!
I have a few questions:
1) What is the quality of the built-in speakers?
2) What are the 3DMark05 and 3DMARK06 scores for this thing?
3) What material is the chasis made of (i.e. carbon fiber, magnesium alloy, etc.)?
Thanx!!
