3dmark comes out every year or so. Its a tool that is a free download. What it does(suppose to do) is allow you to see if your graphics card+cpu / is performing as it should. If you download 3dmark03, 3dmark 05/ 3dmark06 and your scores will show you if you are matching up to equal spec'd systems.

However, these are just bechmarking scores. Its worth the time to download if you want to make sure your system is relatively on par with everyone else with the same specs.
