Has anyone tried applying Arctic Silver 5 on their notebooks? I ordered a tube for my Cyberpower X64 (Athlon64) and was wondering what kind of difference the thermal compound will make.

The Cyberpower warranty is good for one year. Here's a quote from the website:
The way I see it, applying Arctic Silver is part of "preventive maintenance" and will only void the warranty if it causes a problem with the system processor (where AS is applied). However, if something goes wrong with say, the video card, I don't think it will have any effect on the warranty. Unless Cyberpower's techs look under the heatsink, they wouldn't even know AS was applied.
I've done some research to see if applying AS is safe, and so far everyone who has used it are ok. Hypersonic uses AS on the same notebooks so it should go smoothly.

AS5 is perfectly safe. It is just a superior thermal paste. Certainly one of the highest quality and best heat conducting in the world.
But you might want to try Ceramique instead. It is made by the same company. But I have had lower temps with Ceramique over AS5. Also Ceram. is easier to clean up.
