Hey guys, I've been trying to flash the bios on my 7900gs to either unlock or with higher clocks using nibitor. . . So far every flash i've done using a boot cd says it works, gpu-z shows default clock as the speed my gpu bios is supposed to run, but actualy clock never goes up, even in games. Also, I tried the bios thats supposed to unlock it so i can OC from windows. . . it didnt unlock it. Any ideas? I need a little extra horsepower. . .

PS im using a 1705 with mobo bios a10

You could put a 3600M in your laptop man!! It's leaps better than that card.

And you no longer need to flash to overclock, just get the latest drivers and it should work from nvidia or laptopvideo2go.com

I have m1710 bios a07 with geforce 7950gtx. I wanted to know if I can upgrade my m1710 to the a10 bios for the e1705 and then upgrade the quadro 3600m?
I was thinking similarily but then we loose overclocking support.

Plus I don't know if it'll even let you force flash, you might have to solder a new bios chip on the board.

If there is a new M1710 bios then just tell me and I can tell you if the 3600M works with it or not. It might take me awhile but I can tell you before you shell out the cash.

Nawwww still A07. They were nice enough to update the e1705's but not the m1710's which is the same damn laptop just w/o oc support mainly.

Matchbox, are you saying a 3600m will work in a 1705 with the new a10 bios?

Has this been tested?

There's a thread about it, and because of the new thermal table update a new bios was given, being dell I'm pretty damn sure the 3600M will work now so long as you have a 150W or more Psu.

That thread is ALL about it that has carried on through the years, and just recently I believe it was discovered with the new bios that the brightness and unknown device issues were solved on the 3600M. It worked before the A10 bios just had a LOT of issues.
Good luck finding one that fits the e1705 anymore though, and if you do its bound to be the price of a new low key xps.
Remember, dell does NOT support MXM, as dumb as that is.

cheers for that Matchbox but like you said I can find any. /cry.

Thats ironic.

Ebay now has a crap load of 8600m gt's on there for dells.

Unfortunately they look to be the wrong format (theyd fit vostro's) and they only have 256mb ram. for some reason.
The mxm ones are also there, but unless someone could make an mxm to dell's crappy slot adapter it will never work.

FX3600M does not work

I can confirm the brightness issues still exist with the FX3600M on the E1705, even with the A10 Bios.

thanks Kenny . nice to know .. How low is the brightness . Is it still useable during the day or only at night?

Whhhaaat. In the other forum it was said that it was working.....I thought it did at least.

That ****ing sucks.
I stand corrected, matchbox fail.
Does it at least preform better?

I installed a M3500 video card when i had A10 bios and it worked fine, it was about the same as my 7800go as far as performance...BTW i have a E1705 with T7600 processor and it originally came with a ATI xp1400 and a T5600 processor which were a joke. I'm very happy with my 7800go that Dell accidentally sent as a replacement  for my bad ATI xp1400.
