xps out of build stage - Page 7

nootrak4,

Sorry to hear that you have difficulty carrying things. I have the benefit of having two hours of paid workout time each day and a gym to workout in, so I have no difficulty lifting 10 pounds.

Ten pounds for a laptop IS heavy; however, ten pounds itself is incredibly easy to carry, and, with the custom backpack I think I'll do just fine.

I will be using this laptop at home and work, and I will post at a later date regarding my experience transporting my new XPS.

Respectfully,

bogus

Mostly mine will stay in my home office. On weekends it will go to my buddy's place for LAN parties, but I have a car so no biggie

When I have to return to head office, I'll be carrying it every day - but hey, excercise is good for you

Yes, KevDa...great memory. I did order the EE...but so far it's not an E-ticket ride...

So if I were you KevDA, I'd call Dell and tell them that the rest of the Canadians' orders have shipped and that you want yours NOW! Or you'll invade...

Actually I didn't order a dvd burner...but they say that all good things come to people who wait...(By the way, who are "they"?)

Margo -- have tons of fun and let me know what your impressions are when you get it. thx.

I'm in software tech support for digital video, so the suit and tie thing is an indignity that happens to other people Having said that, I'm not convinced that I'll use the backpack all that long (we'll see). I may replace it with a Targus.

And, since I'm dealing with video all the time, I need a) power to spare and b) screen real estate. Much as I would love a subnote that would do all the things I need, they just don't make'em that way (yet).

Yeah, I'll head over to Edmonton and pull the submarines out of the mall

(For those who don't get it, in the West Edmonton Mall there are literally 6 decommissioned subs on display. For a while that was two more than the Canadian navy had - pretty good for a land-locked city....)

My dearest Nootrak4,

I emphasize with your plight. Having to carry so many items to work each day, and travelling via subway each way, has got to take its toll on you. I also realize that, with a suit and tie, a backpack may not be the best look. I guess for your circumstances an XPS may be too much laptop for you.

I apoligize for my ealier "workout, it's not that heavy!" post, and hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

Man, it's so hard been electronically sarcastic! Seriously though, an XPS is not a good idea in your case, but for mine it is a great idea. I'm in a truck for the 10 out of 12 hours of my day, so the backpack will remain outta site.

I was once told that the mark of something great is when 50% of the people hate it, and the other 50% love it.

Yours truly,

bogus

PS I'd like to see a pic of all that stuff you lug. I'll PM ya.

You weren't typing too fast, there are no common mistyped errors there, such as "teh" in place of "the". As a matter of fact, you even went back and edited your post, "Last edited by nootrak4 : Today at 12:14 PM." However, it still doesn't read as English.

Nootrak4,

Don't worry, I understood (most) of your post. Got the pic, and I have to say that's a whole ton of stuff you lug each day.

But look at it this way, think of all the exercise you get just going to and from work. You can almost justify a couple chocolate bars a week!

Respectfully,

bogus

PS I won't post the pic because its not mine to post

BTW, tracking #'s showed up for my replacement XPS today. Shows a delivery estimate of Monday, even though it's not trackable at UPS yet.

My shipment is now in Canada at the Toronto sorting station as of 17:26 today. Looks good for a Monday arrival date.

Keeping you posted,

bogus

all i gotta say is michael dell must be canadian, since he's showing preferential treatment for canadian customers. usa customers that had orders in for weeks prior still don't have shipping dates, i'm one of them...
