I had the Macbook in Sept, with the firmware update, and it was still incredibly hot for a 13" notebook with onboard video. Certainly much too hot to use on my lap or on my stomach while in bed. It was supposed to replace my 700m, but the heat issue was just too much for me. And the scratching, geez, it was so easily scratched. My watch scratched the left pad, and just from normal, very babied usage, the top was starting to scratch as well... sure, they were superficial scratches, but for something 2 weeks old, i can't imagine what it would look like in a year. It was gorgeous coming out of the box though.
Anybody know how the black version handles the scratching issue? Is it better? Worst? The same?
And i guess it's too early to know whether the new Macbooks are better on heat... but i was hoping to hear from people with MBP of what the heat is like (hopefully they could compare it to a Macbook... is it better or comparable?). I'd much prefer the Macbook than the MBP (well, i would prefer the Pro, but pricewise, Macbook is much preferred), it's just the heat is the main issue for me. I really don't care about performance, i never said to myself, whether it's with the 700m or Macbook, 'geez, i wish i had more power'... and that's with the standard 512mb ram (i would have upgraded to 2GB though if i kept it).
