I dont think you can. I think your asking about a audio mixing program there are a few out there.

The one that my fiance uses is Tracktor DJ, It has the functions that your refering too.

hi! this is an audio driver issue and dell currently DO NOT have the proper driver for it!!! there is nothing wrong with the sound card hardware.

i just kicked up a big fuss with dell's customer service and technical support for selling me a handicapped laptop.

Solution? well, i intend to buy an external usb sound card and plug into one of the usb sound card. and since you are a music composer, you may want to get a better range sound card like the sound blaster extigy or follow the advise of the previous post.

the audio driver problem not only affects this model apparently and to think that dell managed to get away with it make my blood boil!!!!

As above poster says your best bet is an external solution such as soundblaster extigy.

Just playing Devil's advocate here (mind you Dell doesn't appear ANYWHERE on my paycheck), but I dont' recall the XPS M1210 or ANY of Dell's laptops being marketed as studio level content creation machines. Let alone being marketed as ones for audio mastery. You act as though Dell has put on an elaborate deception at your expense. Yes, every soundcard on the market offers you the stereo mix option and onboard audio on desktop PCs gives you that option too. But mind you who Dell sells these laptops to, 95% of the people that own the XPSM1210 are people that dont' even know how to open the volume control panel. Let alone realize what Stereo Mix does. There's no need to go to the expense of coding, testing, recoding, and implementing such functionality for only 5% of users.

You don't have to like it. That's just how things arre, but you can always vote with your dollar.
