hp ze4547 laptop screen stopped working:(

I have a hp ze4547 laptop that was working fine this morning. When I went to use it again, the screen seemed to be stuck in hybernation mode. I have rebooted it a couple of times and still the same thing. It sounds like everything is loading up, but the screen is blank. The back light appears to be coming on, but that's it. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

I haven't tried that, but will. Thank you!

I just tried the external monitor and everything works with that....so how do I fix the laptop screen? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

It requires removing the LCD and probably the keyboard in order to acess the invertor and the cable...probably replaceing them as a pair would be a good idea..........If you are near Macon, Ga. I'd be happy to look at it for you.......

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00246219.pdf is a link to the service manual for the notebook you have......removing the LCD assemble is real easy....might be nothing more than a loose connector......look at page 2-23 of the manual and try taking the LCD loose and then plugging it back in....might work.....if not you may have to get parts from HP....I tried a qiuck ebay search to no avail for the cable.......no luck.

You are awesome!! Thank you so much! I'll see what I can do. I'm in NC; if I was closer to you, I'd have you take a look at it.

I just turned it back on and noticed when the fan came on, it smelled like burnt wires. I hope I haven't burned something up.

Thanks again for your help!

lol.....don't know much about the "inards" of these machines. I did download the manual and took the keyboard and screen off. That was as far as I got.....had no clue what I was suppose to be looking for. I did unplug the LCD cable and plug it back in as you suggested, but no change. Descided I was better off to get it back together before I forgot which screw went where

So you're from Fayettville? I'm near Belhaven (a little closer to the coast). Small world.

By the way.....about how much am I looking at to get this fixed....if you don't mind me asking? Thanks.

is the lid switch stuck?

Don't think so.....the lid was never closed when it stopped working. I got up to do something else, and when I came back, I came back to a blank screen. I smelled burnt wires, so like the Mad Machinist said, sounds like the inverter/inverter cable died
