I am soo confused which one to buy out of these. I need 2.5 hours and above of battery life so im not taking core duo 2 or highest end graphics card. BUT i do need the best sound (to watch dvd in a room with friends). Its going to be mainly for college work, watching dvds and little gaming.

What i have in mind is 1.8 GHZ core duo
1GB RAM
GOOD BATTERY 2.5-3.5 hours
GOOD SPEAKERS
maybe GPU like ATI X1400 (dedicated would be much better)
Keyboard (not neccessarly with num pad)
no need for fingerprint security
80-120GB HDD SATA
15,4 " WXGA Glaretype (glossy)
Wireless G + bluetooth ( v.20 if possible)
Integrated Webcame if possible.
WEIGHT less than 6.3lbs (less than 3.3 kg)

So i summerized to 3 notebook: please advice me if u got better ideas in mind:

Toshiba A105:

LG P1 dual express:

Dell 6400 :

OR maybe these
HP Pavilion DV6000t:

well i would get the core 2 duo if you are looking for better battery life. The core 2 duo doesn't improve in performace much (even tho there is a performance gain), but it uses much less power than the core duo (somewhere in the 30-40% range i think)

dell 6400 definiately. lg is nice 2 but its more expensive. toshiba would be the last choice

Yes, the C2D is supposed to use less battery. I had a Toshiba before I got my Alienware, and I've never had a problem with it.

I would definitely not go for HP in terms of build quality. I own an nc6000, one of their business notebooks which should have better build quality than the consumer model you are looking at and the same part (the motherboard) has broken 5 times. If that wasn't bad enough, it keeps breaking (obviously) after they "fix" it. I just got it back and its already going out the door for another repair. Take my advice and don't get the HP.

hp build depends. i had a tc4200 tablet and a tc4400 the build quality on both was very good. support sucks though.

dell has the best warrenty and cheap price thats why i recommand it :P

That's only half true. It is a lower wattage unit which saves battery life so that much is true, however it's a completely different architecture of processor and is about 30% faster. I'm too lazy to look up benchmarks side by side, but if you want something that isn't going to be out of date in 6 months, Core 2 Duo is the way to go. I've owned many Dells and have no 'build quality' issues. I have owned many HP products as well, and I'm mad at them, but I must say that I've had no problems RECENTLY. I did have a few back-to-back junker printers which made me hate their brand and their desktops suck as well, thus, I decided to not like them. It seems recently they have redeemed themselves though. LG? Wow. I like to keep up on obscure laptops but I didn't even know they made a laptop... I had an old Toshiba laptop that was a piece of junk, and they don't just reek of quality nowdays either. Add some easy-to-find (most days) Dell coupons, and I'd say Dell would be the route to take. You could even email your configuration to one of the resellers in the for sale thread and see what price they can get you.
