Thin vertical red line

I've had my e-machine notebook for about 1 1/2 years with no problems. All of a sudden, one day a thin vertical red line appeared down the right side of my screen. It has come and gone for about 2 weeks. As of yesterday, it seems to be here to stay. It does not seem to effect the performance of the computer at all. Does anyone have any clue as to what this could be?

how does it do with external display?
see if u can find a shop in the near to check out. My take is that u r about to need a new lcd (could be wrong)

same to me but:
thin green line on left...
try refreshing pixels by screensaver sw or similar
