Sager 8790 benchmarks and clocking - Page 4

aroundmidnite,

my 8790 runs farcry great at high setting 1440x900 i'll run 70-35 fps. at medium settings @ 1024x768 i'll range 50-85 outside and into the hundreds inside. I'm not sure why some ppl have such poor performance. I have little doubt that it will run HL2 quite well, its been delayed for a year+ so hardware has had a chance to catch up + it was coded in favor of ATI. As for Doom3, i played the Beta2 leak (yea im an asshole) and i got a very fair frame rate @ 1024x768 with high settings i ranged from 70-25 fps, keep in mind this was coded for nvidia.

I'm OC'ing at 513 / 283.5, and playing Far Cry at 1078X with everything set on very high, and it plays great.

steadfast, how do you check frame rate in far cry, thanks

jamesway mentions that to help the sound, "go buy a 3 prong to 2 prong power adapter from radio shack to get rid of hard drive noise."

I'm not sure what he means here....can we get a bit more explanation, please?

Thank you!

farcry console comands can be found with ease in goodle. I'm not sure what a 3-2 prong adapter is.....im sure what ever it is can be found at radioshack.

Here is what one looks like: http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...t%5Fid=61-2720

This essentially removes the "ground" to you machine. I'm not sure that is a good idea (not recommended in the manual). It's your machine and the choice of frying it (that's the worst that can happen) is also yours.

As far as I know lifting the ground on a electronic device is fairly common practice for elliminating noise. When you unplug the power adapter on your laptop the sound immediately dissapears because of the ground being lifted.
Might want to watch for thunderstorms though.

G-Omaha,

Thanks for the pic! LOL -- I didn't know jamesway was referring to such an ordinary item.

GS Ferrari has lead me to get a DAC and an Amplifier to run sound and it will bypass the soundcard entirely. He suggested this solution to remove noise and to improve sound quality.
