How much of a difference would RAM Make into my laptop?

Thread Starter
I have currently a 15 inch laptop.. e1505

It has now 1.86ghz core duo a radeon x1400 and it also have 1gb(512x2) 533mhz speed.

I am currently thinking of upgrading it to 2gb(1gbx2) 667mhz.

I want to play battlefield 2 and 2142. It plays okay if everything is set up to medium or I was hoping that the upgrade would make a huge improvement on gameplay that i could increase it a lil bit higher than all mediums. But I am concerned if it wouldnt be worth and upgrade or not or if it would be bottlenecking anyways.

Thanks.

Things will load faster, especially if you have a 5400 rpm HD, and may stop any pauses in gameplay, but I doubt you get any higher resolutions or more graphics options as the video card will be the bottleneck. If you plan on buying Vista, the 2 GB ram will be worth the money, especially with shared video memory.

No dramatic improvement from 2x512 to 2x1gig - Been there. Not worth it

It all depends on what you're doing. Video Editing and Photoshop use tons of memory, as will Vista. The
BF series are also memory hogs.

Web surfing, Word and the like 2GB is overkill.
