Swap XPS2 WUXGA screen for a WXGA 9300 Screen possible? - Please

Hay there, my screen on my XPS2 is starting to develop vertical lines it it. Faint and flickery but they are getting worse. I hooked up a second monitor and i see no line so i am pretty sure it is not the video card, though i do have a 7800GTX in it overclocked slightly.

Is it just a direct swap to put a screen from a 9300 on my XPS2? A 1440 X 900 screen. I noticed they are a little easier to get a hold of than the 1920 X 1200 screen. Besides it would give my video card more breathing room at native resolution with newer games.

Any better place to get screens besides the online auction houses?

Cheers,
Michael

XPS2 is the M170, right? If so, it hsould work fine.

However, a swap from the 9300 to the E1705 was unsuccessful for me, so it might not work with an M1710, if that's what an XPS2 is.

You're correct, the XPS 2 is the M170

It's funny you ask this question as i just logged on to ask pretty much this question

I have a 1900x1200 non glossy LG screen with inverter pulled from a 9200?

My M1710 has some vertical lines on it and the inverter will not adjust the brightness (always dim).

The 9200 WUXGA inverter does not work, but the screen does work perfectly in the M1710.

I have to use the original inverter from the M1710 to fire up the CCFL but i can't adjust the brightness - this is the way it's always been.

Is this an inverter fault or some other hardware fault?

I figure the keyboard must communicate with the inverter through some bit of hardware which could be dead, probably on the M/B?
