Stupid XPS questions...help with 'stretching'

Hey, guys...now that I've got the thing working properly w/the powerstrip hack, how do I get the different resolutions to 'stretch'? For example, if I play Armed and Dangerous in 1600x1200, there are black bars above and to the sides of the screen...I'm pretty sure I have the BIOS setting correct...is there some other software setting I have to manipulate...maybe a vid driver option? Or do I just have to live with the 'double letterboxing' of most games?

Edit: I found the option in the driver menu under settings/advanced/displays...but either radio button I check seems result in the same non-stretched crap for certain resolutions in certain games...weird...I'm using the Dell driver from their Resource CD...is this a limitation of whatever version of Catalyst Dell developed their drivers from? Can anyone get non-letterboxed 1600x1200 in Morrowind, Armed & Dangerous or other games?

I see this too. I can get 1280x1024 to stretch to full screen but 1600x1200 won't stretch. I've tried both stretch settings inside the Advanced display properties on the ATI tab.

Are you using Dell's drivers or the Omega's or hacked 4.3's or what?

Using the Dell drivers and also tried the 4.3 Catalysts. Haven't tried the Omega's yet.

OH, okay...thanks, man. I guess I'll just stick to 1280x1024...except in Armed and Dangerous, this rez still results in the letterbox look.

I wonder why Dell chose to make a gamer's notebook that can't display typical game resolutions properly? I guess most of it probably has to do with the beauty of the screen itself, though...even my wife went 'wow', and no other company offers WUXGA screen...I guess I'll just have to suffer

dont worry more and more games offer widescreen options eventually it will be the norm thanks to Apple 15.2, dells 15.4, and everyone elses 17 inch wide screens
