macbook / macbook pro HD options

The choices are:

120GB Serial ATA drive @ 5400 rpm (default)
160GB Serial ATA drive @ 5400 rpm (add $100)
200GB Serial ATA drive @ 4200 rpm (add $200)

I am considering getting a new macbook / macbook pro, and I really want to get the bigger HDs.... but are the 200GB 4200rpm HDs worth it? I like to have a LOT of space but speed is somewhat of a concern too...

an extra $200 does seem pretty steep for an extra 40GB over the 160GB drive.... and its slower.... however it is cheaper than buying a 200 GB myself and installing it, and the having to deal with selling off the old drive.

depends what you want it for, and if you want 2 drives or one.

if you want two, go on newegg and buy the replacement there. itll be a little more money, but youll get a 120-160 5400 in the book, and a spare for an enclosure. all for 50-80 more than youd pay from apple for one.
