m170 running hot! please help!

When I play a demanding game like ut2004 for about 2 hours or so at all normal to low settings, the gpu temp gets up to 89C!! For the first hour it runs great, but once the temps start getting hot, framerates drop, everything craps out. So i was wondering if there was something i cuold do to make it stay cool, or if that is just a normal thing.
I was thinking a cooling pad might help, but im not sure how much it'll help. Can as5 be applied somehow to help out. It is a great laptop it just is having problems when i play games for an extended period of time.

Also im looking at maybe buying the m1710, will I have a similar problem with that laptop?

u can try some vacuuming aropund the vent holes, elevating the bottom of the laptop can held greatly. Personally speaking, laptop cooler is just a matter of choice, as mentioned, I prefer something that would help elevating the laptop bottom for a good airing (ha ha ha)

try notebook hardware control to keep an eye on the temp also help out, this would get the fan to kick it earlier. update to ur newest driver if possible.

cheers ...

I took apart the hwole laptop and there wasnt much dust at all suprisingly. Also I bought a cooling pad. It is small so it doesnt cover up the fan vents on the bottom. So it elevates it, plus it provides better airflow underneath the rest of the laptop. I'll see if it does anything. I'll try getting new drivers also.

Well I played some ut2004 with the cooling pad running. With the combination of the fan vents being elevated and the extra air flow, the temperatures dropped about 10C!!
I bought a targus cooling oad from best buy, and fits perfect so the fan vents just miss the end of the cooling pad.
