I can not run any DVD back up utility on my DV9000t. When i back up a DVD by dvdshrink it just turned off in xp or in windows vista 5600 edition. CPU go crazy and The cooler fan is running on high and cpu 100% buzy then the computer just shut down automaticaly . Does anyone having this kinda problem in HP DV series? please share the experience or i have a faulty laptop. Thank you

wow, I would try to restore back when you received your unit.re-install shrink and try to run it again. Then if you keep having problems it might give you a better indication if it is faulty or not? just my 2 cents.

Hey,

I used to have the same problems. Any program that used a lot of CPU would turn off the notebook (sorry but mine is of another brand). First thing i did was open it up and cleaned all the dust on the Heatsink (there was a lot) and i applied Thermal Paste (Artic Silver) between the CPU and Heatsink and the notebook runs alot nicer now. Now i can finish DVD backups without any kind of industrial fan bellor the notebook (believe me i tried it with the fan).

Hope it helps, if you want more info on howto clean and apply thermal paste search the forums or maybe someone has the same notebook as you and knows how to.
