Needs some help with Video Capture

Thread Starter
My Sager notebook is model 5620.

I've never used my S-video jack, or attempted to capture video.

I've connected my new VCR/DVD player to my laptop using an S-video cable. There is only one S-video jack on the back of my laptop. The other end is connected to the VCR/DVD S-video out jack. The VCR/DVD is turned on.

I've started up Micorosoft Windows Movie Maker 5.1. I selected capture from video device and I receive the following message: A video capture device is not detected. Verify that a device is turned on and connected properly.

I've checked and tripled checked my connections and power.

Is there another software or hardware device that I need?

Is the S-jack on the backside of my laptop for Input and Output?

I'm inexperienced. Can somone get me started?

Don't think that the 5620's had a video device in them (such as the tuner). You are probably mistaking the S-Video output as being an input.

If you have a USB-2 port you could look into getting a Hauppague USB2 PVR device to handle input from S-Video, TV Antenna, or Composit video to your laptop.
