Help! Can't Decide

So basically I've been pondering between the iMac 24" and the MBP 2.33. I couldn't wait any longer and decided to place an order for an iMac 24". But now I'm not so sure if I should have gone with that or the MBP.

My iMac came out to 2232.12 tax and all and is BTO. The MBP 2.33 that I've had my eye on is just stock, so I could just walk to the local apple store and pick it up, and comes to around 2488.67 now that the 101$ sale is over.

This computer would have to last me 2 to 3 years but I can't decide if the 250$ is worth the mobility. And I'm afraid of having issues with the MBP, with the talk about uneven lighting issues, whines, noises, and heat. I would like to be able to take it to say the coffee shop or a friend's house but isn't exactly necessary since my friend already has two computers (although it is much worse, 512mb, 9200, and the like), and don't know if I'll be justifying the laptop it's mobile capabilities.

I'd love to take it on vacation but I'm pretty sure I could do without it for a week or two. I do play a little bit of games, such as BF2, WoW, and HL2. I just am not sure if I should go for the extra 250$ and buy the MBP or not. The issues I've seen scare me away from it but others say theirs are fine. I don't know what to do. ):

The new MBPs are pretty stable, so you really don't have to worry much about the heat and whine and such.

As far as which one to choose...well, it's personal preference. I would LOVE to get an iMac—I'd kill for a MacPro and 20 inch Cinema Display (no 30 cause I'm not greedy! :-)—but to me it's just much more important to be comfortable while using the computer. I've never been comfortable sitting at a desk; sitting in bed however...

Do you have a need to be able to use your computer anywhere you want or are you fine staying at a desk? Do you travel much, and if you do, do you need a computer with you?

One thing to note...as the iMac is BTO you CANNOT send it back to Apple once the machine is sent to you. If you don't like it you will have to sell it yourself.

Sitting as a desk doesn't bother me at all as long as I have an adequately comfortable chair. I guess you could say having mobility isn't a necessity as much of a convenience for me.

I don't travel like a businessman but I do my fair share of traveling, and although having it would be nice is completely complimentary to me.

I think I'll end up sticking with the iMac, but until it gets here I'm going to be in debate and regret mode. But I'm the most impatient person I know. My grandparents did however receive a macbook and are waiting on me to set it up for them since they have no idea what to do with it, and since they'll be the ones taking me on the more exotic "photography" trips, I'll be satisfied with their macbook.

i like the mobility personally.

if you dont need that at all, get the IMAC. no reason for a notebook.

yeah only get the MBP if you need a mobile computing solution on a regular basis. Heheh I like to completely get away from PCs when I'm on vacation. :P

Get MBP. It will hold value and is well worth the extra cost.
