I think the release date for Vista is up to Microsoft, and not Dell.

I know, and they lied to me. They said my outlet purchase would be elegable and its not.

I'm getting 2 Home Premium's from upgrades, and 2 full Ultimates (one from the Microsoft roadshow, and one from beta). Love those freebies .

I'd call about that outlet machine, you'll likely get someone who can get it pushed through. Most likely the upgrade database has the original ship date from the mahcine (before you got it), and not when you actually purchased it.

Are you saying you're getting a free upgrade from participating in the beta program? What did you have to do to get that?
I didn't get any OS from the roadshow... sniff... nor from the beta... sniff...
You had to contribute bug reports. I did but they must not have liked me enough.

I don't have my M90 with me. They giving any indication of when they will ship? Isn't the Business version supposed to be shipping earlier then the "Home" version.

I tried my service tag which should be valid for the upgrade (a new Dim 9200 Uk spec) and it tells me that I do not qualify for the upgrade. (I am reading this forum as I have a M170 which I bought last year).
I have not activated the winXP media centre OS supplied, maybe that is the problem or theDell Vist upgrade site is still not functioning correctly
???

Just noticed that registering for this upgrade is for USA at the moment. Europe and other will have to wait until 15th December!
Mind you the date you can register the upgrade doesn't mean that's when you're eligible to receive it. It just means you can go ahead and redeem the upgrade and then receive your copy of Vista whenever it's released by Microsoft. I did the same thing with the upgrade coupon I got from newegg. I redeemed my coupon and mailed in the neccessary info so hopefully I won't have to wait long for my copy of Vista once it's released.

make sure on your service tag (log into dells website) and see if you have the vista upgrade coupon, without that coupon you are not put into thier database and you won't be able to get it.

I was told by a sales rep that any system purchased after 10/26/2006 was eligable for the upgrade. Regardless if it was purchased from dell home, dell small business, or even the outlet.

I tried to register with the webpage but it would not take my service tag. Since I purchased my 1710 from the outlet I was skeptical, so I called them and they had explained they were having problems with the website but took all my information and assured me that I was eligable and that I would be receiving my upgrade to Vista.

Yeah, the site for those of us that bought from retailers like newegg and such was not functioning for well over a week. Finally got mine in though and hopefully I won't have to wait very long for Vista once it's released.

To be perfectly honest.. The wait is worth it. Reason being, drive support still sucks out there. Nvidia drivers are still beta. And there isn't much support for OEM machines; laptops for sure.

I waited a year before switching over to XP and I will most likly do the same for vista just because of driver issues, BUT that doesnt'mean I dont want my copy now
