lcd flicker in 5680

hi

i wonder if someone can help me on this one. few days ago i noticed lcd flickering.it looks like backlight is changing its brightness quickly. it occurs randomly and usually lasts seconds, but it may as well be a minute (rarely). adjusting brightness helps. if anybody knows a solution - please help.

i've read that it can mean the inverter board controlling lcd voltage is defective. is there any way to check it? i really don't want to send the lappy back to sager. i live in poland (eastern europe) and it would be quite a long while before i'd get it back. and it would cost me a lot.

It probably is the inverter board. Check this by connecting it to a CRT. When the flickering occurs check to see if it also occurs on the CRT. If it only happens on the LCD then it isn't a card issue, and most likely is the result of defective inverter board. I and several others have had this problem. It is easily replaced through RMA.

Yeah, I'm having that problem. Its been flickering for about the last 10 minutes, and has done it off an on for a couple months. And it doesn't effect my external monitor.

I use this computer 60% of the time with an external LCD and 35% of the time as a terminal server, so it hasn't really bothered me very much.

is there any way to get just the inverter board from sager or anyone else? i can manage exchanging the parts myself. can anybody tell me what RMA means? how long i usually takes to get a laptop fixed this way? how much you have to pay?

RMA is Returned Merchandise Authorization

Can't help with the first question other than to say "Contact Sager".
