What's the latency like on TV cards? Or video input cards? I'm seriously considering getting a 3007 wfp and was wondering if I could run the 360 thorugh my pc.
nowadays it shouldn't be noticeable to the naked eye

Would it be possible to run it in in HD format?

If found this: http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/publi...agic_intensity
which is nearly affordable, but the 360 doesnt have HDMI does it?

If you have to go thru some kind of video capture device on the PC then have it displayed on the 3007, you are going to be totally screwed as they will definately be noticeable lag. The only way to minimise lag is to have the console connect directly to the monitor via HDMI or component and you can't do that on a 3007.

???? ive have zero problems running through two capture devices... pinnacle DV500 and an Ati TV tuner

You could always plug the 360/PS3 directly into the monitor.

3007 cant accept that. No inbuilt scaler.

Test have shown that most LCD have an input lag of about 4ms or more compare to CRT and every device that you add in between will add a few ms. I lot of people won't notice it but hardcore gamers have all said that it's noticable for shooter, some more than others.

Is there a reason why you wanted a 3007? Do you really need the desktop real estate or you just want a large size screen. If it's size (an if you have the room) there are quite a few 37" and up 1920x1080 LCD available at or below the 3007 price with multiple HDMI, DVI, VGA, Component inputs.

Not in the UK. I do alot of design, (video, photoshop, publishing) and since I have the money, I thought why not. The high res will be useful.

About the input lag, sure, hardcore camers might notice it. But as you said, most people won't care- rather than be "totally screwed". I can put up with 5, 6ms lag, since I can't see it on my current LCD.

It's like audiophiles, people who spend £1000 on a cable. Whereas I do what BW do, and use B&Q orange extension cable.

So general consesnsu is it'll probably work. Good enough for e.

Have you thought about how you're going to get the Xbox 360 to run in full screen on the 3007 when it does not have a scaler?

Yes, through the PC. Which is my reason for wanting to run it through the pc. The graphics card will scale.

Are you sure that the videocard will accept a 1080P signal through component? What videocard are you using?

That's the whole point of what I was asking. I need to be able to input HD into the PC with minimum lag. What part od this dont you unserstand.

That's what I've been saying, I don't think it can be done. There are professional video capture card (the card you linked to will only do 1080i and the 360 have no way of outputing a HDMI signal) that will do 1080p (they start at about $1000 and go up beyond $10K) but it would than need to send the data to the videocard for display and that will definately induce significant lag, This may sound simple and doable with Mpeg 2 (DVD) contents, but you have to remember that uncompressed HD is about 600MB/minute vs 33MB/minute of conventional DVD. I don't think you can have no lag moving around that much data from the PCI/PCI-E bus to the PCI-E x16 bus of the videocard.

P.S. I thought the Sharp 1080p LCD line (available in 42",46",52",57" & 65") is available in Europe as someone just picked up a 46" version in Germany.

Take it from me that 1080P blows on the 360. 1080i looks ALot Better, with the HDTV components Cables. I runs a Sony Bravia LCD Flat Panel. And with 1080p the colors are a bit washed out, it's much better looking with 1080i

The 1080p update on the 360 sucks period, it was a firmware hack that force a unit that was design to output 1080i to do 1080p. Not only does it looks bad, it doesn't work on a lot of PC LCDs.

Actually the 1080p looks wonderful on my 360 and my 2405 HOWEVER I use the DVI cable not the Componant which I know would have a hard time handling 1080p
