Iolo System Mechanic Pro 6

The only tool i was using was Norton Systemworks 2005...specifically Defrag and Windows Doctor. I did not use much of anything else in Norton.

I will be getting a new laptop soon and was thinking of updating.

Good defrag and registry cleaning, optimization and fixing are the two most important things for me. I have not messed with too many other things. Dont use firewall as I am behind a router...and use NOD32/SearchDestroy/Windows Defender for security.

Anyone use System Mechanic Pro 6 here? What do you guys think?

I've been using it for quite some time now. I bought it and it really works. made my system and internet connection faster. You might want to layer your security though. Don't just stick to one.

Yep, I use System Mechanic too... it's a great all-in-one and it works well. But I agree, have a layered defence for best effect. As well as System Mechanic I run a separate virus protector and have both Spybot and AdAware installed to clean spyware.

Clarifying: I do use NOD32/Search and Destroy/Windows Defender and do not intend to change that. I will not use System Mechanics Pro firewall or antivirus, like I didnt with Norton Systemworks.

I want to replace Norton Systemworks with something better. System Mechanic does seem good, but will need to tweak some settings.

The one click cleanup PCTotalCare keeps delete all cookies, which I do not want it to as I control which cookies I allow.

Do you guys find its registry cleaner and optimzer to be good?

The startup optimizer disabled Dell Quickset flagging it as unrequired :P
