quick question

Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2250 (1.73 GHz) [subtract ($110.00)]
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5200 (1.60 GHz) [subtract ($89.00)]
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66 GHz) [subtract ($45.00)]
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5600 (1.83 GHz) [included]
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.0 GHz) [add $87.00]

Is upgrading to 2.0ghz worth it? spending $87 more?

thanks!

yes. usually its like 100-125 to upgrade from t5600-->t7200. 87 is good.

Depends on how tight your budget is. If you're looking for ways to keep the cost of your laptop down, the t5600 is still a good processor. You really won't notice a huge difference between the two (even with the 2mb vs 4mb cache).

If you're not trying to lower the price of your laptop then the t7200 is a good deal for only $87 more. Under $100 for the next speed increase is pretty fair.

It's extremely rare that you find yourself waiting on the CPU, ever. In general, the answer is "If you have to ask if it's worth it to get a faster processor, it isn't."

Note that laptop processors have really not gotten much faster at all in the last 2-3 years: the Athlon 64 in my sig is about as fast as the 1.83 C2D (per core), and it's been around for a long time. There's really not that much demand for more CPU, unless you're one of those people who knows who they are.
