Replacement Status Question

From what I understand, it will show as a new "order" under your "My Account" page.

I also have recently gotten approval for a full system exchange after multiple issues with GPU cooling/replacements and most recently the sound i/o on my machine completely died. The conversation took place on Monday the 20th, and I haven't heard anything yet, so it may just be a matter of waiting. The service call # they gave me lists "status not available" when looking under actions or parts.

same here, ive had many problems and its been 7 business days, including today and I still have no system status, which means its probably time to yell at dell until they do something.

I know what you mean Brian, lol I have been counting the minutes until I hear that a 7900GS will be in the replacement, as well as a sufficient processor :P and I can't help but hope for some other goody replacements ^_^

Well I contacted Dell today to check in on the status, and the rep assured me that the process was under way and that I should receive the replacement unit within 3-4 business days of today (still within the 7-10 business day estimate that I was given originally), however there wasn't any more information he could provide me with, other than to mention that they use a separate computer system for processing these exchanges, explaining why I couldn't see any updated information attached to my service call #.

Well, I know that it doesn't operate on a different computer system because others tell me they can see the specs on the list with the service call # lol. Anyway, after talking to dell in chat, apparently the techie's cannot tell details, so a manager is supposed to be calling within the next hour, of course I'm not exactly expecting anything out of that because most technicians who propose this use it as an open promise

Got an update on mine today. Now it DOES show information on the service call #, but it just says 9400 base and docs.

So apparently they're upgrading my CPU LCD and GPU

Dell also agreed to exchange my system on the 20th saying it'll take 7-10 days, but I haven't recieved any updates at all. I contacted them on the 25th and they said the paper work was being proccessed and it'll still take 7-10 days.

I spoke with the rep who authorized the exchange on monday of last week (11/20). So within the 7-10 business day timeframe I was quoted. We'll see if the machine gets to me within that time frame though

That card should indeed be the 7900GS, as it's a G71 designed for a 9400. I'm fairly pumped about that and the CPU upgrade, although honestly I'm not sure how I feel about the LCD "upgrade", since I originally chose the WXGA+ as the lower resolution will keep frame rates decent while still running at the LCDs native resolution... We will see, though.

I contacted a dell rep today and he said I'd be recieving my system tomorrow but I highly doubt it since it doesn't appear on my order page or anything. I still have no idea what the system specs are

If any of you hadn't read, apparently Dell actually lost my replacement, and that why it is taking so long. lol I hate when these things happen.

Recieved my replacement today, which I wasn't expecting. Apparently they overnight shipped it to me. So far it's going great, but I'll have to wait till I get home to really test it out. Sorry to hear about your mixup, p.

If it makes you feel any better, I got into a car accident because I was in a rush to pick up my machine >_< So things could be worse ^_^

if its not a G71, then yes it is......lmao I don't even want to hear my specs if I see that show up after all my crap. Complain as much as you can man, thats unacceptable

How is the 7800 gtx compared to the 7900 gs, you think I can argue for a 7900 gtx maybe. It's not a bad system but it's identical to my old system minus the hard drive increase. I just can't believe they would give me such a shitty graphics card.

Also remember your getting a big processor upgrade, not in clock speed, but in dual core second gen, and a hard drive increase. the 7900GS is about on par with the 7800GTX
