Damage caused by poking LCD screen?

Hi everyone.

Does anyone know if any damage can result from pushing an lcd screen to the point where a little ripple forms on the screen. I assume that this is just the liquid in the display moving, but I'm not sure if this can do any permenant damage.

I've seen a lot of people poke at lcd screens before, which is why I want to know if this is a bad thing to do.

thanks in advance

don't poke the screen! in fact when i am on my laptop and a friend is trying to show me something and starts to poke the screen i slap that person's hand and yell at them.... it cheeses me off when people touch my screen!

After a friend managed to poke a dead spot into my previous PC's LCD, I had some special decals made.

They look OEM, what with the exclamation point in the triangle and all.

The wording is "/!\ DON'T TOUCH SCREEN"

Works perfectly and just one is all it takes to keep offending pokers at bay. It's above the screen on the bezel, not on the LCD itself.
