Celeron 430 M vs. Sempron 3500+ M?

Thread Starter
I'm looking possibly buying my wife a new hp dv2000 laptop and configured 2 models for about $625 each after discounts and rebates and tax. One is an AMD based with a Sempron 3500+ and Nvidia 6150 graphics card, while the other is an intel based Celeron M 430 with intel 950 GMP graphics.

Can anyone comment on which should have better battery life and which would run office applications better? Thanks.

AMD with the Nvidia chip would be a lot more efficient than the intel board.

More efficient as in faster? What about battery life? Shoudl I expect the same or one being better than the other?

id go with the amd. the cpu is faster and the gfx is slightly faster. they should both have around the same battery life

I would recommend the celeron and the intel chipset. It's performance should be better than the sempron's and even though the celeron doesn't support the advanced power saving features of the pentium m or core processors, the intel chipset is AFAIK more power efficient than the nvidia chipset, and overall the intel platform is more power efficient.

The graphics edge however small, does go to the sempron/nvidia combo.

yet another vote for the amd... performance will overall be better, bettery life will be about the same

1st of, anything by ATi or Nvidia will be faster than intel.
When it comes to celeron and sempron, sempron will always win on a laptop.
